Architecture, Design and Planning – University of Sydney
July 28, 2024
This week I am starting a new part time role as Assoicate Professor of Practice at Architecture, Design and Planning – University of Sydney. This has only been possible with the amazing support of Dr Michael Mossman and Prof Deborah Barnstone, Thank You!
I am really excited to start 3 years of engaging with faculty, students and others to share Kaunitz Yeung Architecture‘s approach and perspective that Ka Wai Yeung and I dreamt of developing all those years ago.
I am also looking forward to flying with Marni Reti to push the boundaries of whats possible. Marni will also be joining University of Sydney part time in a well deserved role that will enable her to leave her mark on architectural education and its future practice.
However the proudest part of this is realising a kind of intergenerational triumph. My grandmother Hajnal Kaunitz nee Lichtenstein was born in Budapest. She missed the opportunity to finish high school let alone go to university due to the Hungarian Facists anit-semetic policies that prevented Jewish People from doing so. After arriving in Australia and spending 20 years building a new life she took an administration job in the Language Lab University of Sydney so she could be at university. This was the proudest time of her life and she glowed when she shared her experiences.
Hajnal this ones for you
