We recognise the original Custodians of Country, their ongoing connection to the land, sky, seas, cultures and communities - paying our respects to Elders, past and present.
Ka Wai Yeung and I are honoured to have been admitted as Fellows of the Australian Institute of Architects. We are blown away and very greatful by the surprise nomination from Professor Gerard Reinmuth, Walter Brindle and the committee.
It was also my great honour to have been the third wheel on the jury for the RAIA Marion Mahoney Griffen Prize 2024 with Catherine Lassen Kirby Rees to award Annabel Lahz of lahznimmo architects. Incredibly well deserved. I am in awe of the consistency of high quality architecture over a significant period that each time improved the public realm.
It was a such a fun evening to share the room with so many award winners, Fellows and Life Fellows.

But the most important and poignant recognition went to the incomprable late Chris Thomas who as head of the City of Sydney Design Unit lead some of the most enduring and transformative projects in our city. Major awards each year for 20 years is just an indication of his impact. His leadership and mentoring will be his lasting impact on so many including Ka Wai.
