Last night I had the opportunity to speak at ArchiNation – Foreign Ground: Global Perspectives on Australian Practice, hosted by EmAGN (QLD).

I’m grateful for the invitation and the space to share reflections on my experience practising in Australia over the past few years with Kaunitz Yeung Architecture, and how that journey has been shaped by my previous work overseas. Transitioning between professional cultures changes the way you see the role of the architect within the industry.

A big thank you to Manu P. Sobti for moderating the panel and creating a conversation that felt both honest and insightful. It was also a pleasure to hear from fellow speakers Yohei Omura and Ayano Toki from Parafeeld, and Jana van Wijk from Archipelago Architects. The conversations before and after the event were just as valuable as the presentations themselves.

What stood out most is how varied our paths into Australian practice have been, yet we all find ourselves navigating the same industry, learning from it and contributing to it in our own ways.
