Last week I had the absolute privilege of travelling and spending time on Larrakia Country, so beautiful and rich in traditional and contemporary culture.

Thanks to Gyöngyvér Engloner and Paul Bartsch for inviting me to speak on behalf of Kaunitz Yeung Architecture at an Australian Institute of Architects Earth Construction Event in Garramilla (Darwin).

I got to meet local architects, and have fascinating, lively discussion on innovative building methods in different climates! Saw the incredible architecture Darwin has to offer, and not for nothin, also watched the sun set over the ocean for the first time in my life – being an east coast girl both here and in Aotearoa.

The timing was immaculate as I was able to peruse DAAF and meet up with my lovely friends from Utopia Art Centre, Tjarlirli Art and Kaltukatjara Art (see links to their websites below). Whom we’ve been designing and building with for the past year on 3 separate Aboriginal Art Centres in Central Australian desert communities.

DAAF and Darwin Festival gave me the opportunity to connect with the brother Troy Casey and his gorgeous family at the Magpie Goose stall and meet the mob from Atyene.

I’m really fortunate to be given these opportunities to connect with mob across the nation, I’m always grateful and humbled when afforded these opportunities.
