Ka Wai Yeung and I (with the kids in tow) had the privilege of spending the final week of the school holidays on the Aแน‰angu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands, sitting with Elders and visiting every community. It was deeply grounding โ€” and heartening to see the important work of the late Paul Pholeros continuing to make a difference on Country.

We made the decision to drive the full journey from Sydney โ€” 6,400 km in nine days โ€” reaching the point where the borders of NT, WA and SA meet, and then back again. With no day below 47ยฐC and a peak of 50ยฐC in Port Augusta, I was quietly relieved the trip didnโ€™t include a single tyre change.

Route:
Sydney โ†’ Nyngan โ†’ Wilpena Pound (via Wilcannia) โ†’ Marla Springs (via Lake Eyre) โ†’ APY Lands โ†’ Port Augusta โ†’ Nyngan โ†’ Sydney

Long roads, big skies, meaningful conversations โ€” and a reminder of why showing up, in person, always matters.
