Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service
February 22, 2024
Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service Healthcare Hub in Newman is almost 4 years old. We are super proud of the project and how it has resonated with and been embraced by local people including the Nyiyarparli and Martu People. A key part of the project were the 3400 endemic desert species that were planted to eventually create a hospitable micro climate around the building including the new public park and shade the courtyard.
Importantly the landscaping at the front of the building has been left unfenced to create for the first time in Newman a public park under the control of an Aboriginal organisation. A place where everyone is welcome.
It is clear from the latest photos that this has been a huge success! Huge thanks to Katharina Nieberler-Walker for the beautiful landscape design. You were right there were enough plants!
