recent visit to Ranongga Is, Solomon Islands Simon Alepio and the Ranongga.org

December 14, 2023

Great news after our recent visit to Ranongga Is, Solomon Islands Simon Alepio and the Ranongga.org team have made the first delivery of materials for Kundu Village’s new water supply.

This is an impressive effort! In a 30ft timber canoe with an outboard motor they transported the materials 4 hours accross the ocean channel between Gizo and Ranongga around Lale Point and to Kundu Village. When they arrived at Kundu they had to navigate a narrow channel that has been cut through the reef that was uplifted 4m forllowing the 2007 earthquake.

Then if you saw my last post you will know they then had to carry the materials up a steep track that I struggled to get myself up!

Leanajola to Simon and the Ranongga.org team!
