Rothwell 2024 Symposium

August 29, 2024

A BIG welcome to Atelier Bow Wow (http://www.bow-wow.jp/), Momoyo Kaijima, Yoshiharu Tsukamoto and Yoichi Tamai who have joined Architecture, Design and Planning – University of Sydney as the incoming Garry and Susan Rothwell Chairs.

Ka Wai Yeung and I had the amazing opportunity to join fellow session 1 speakers Lee Hillam Ashley Dunn DunnHillam and Bobbie Bayley (Dog Spike Design) to participate in the Rothwell 2024 Symposium to welcome Atelier Bow Wow and provide some insights into the Australian context.

It was a lot of fun! I am excited to see the architectural discourse moving more towards architecture that is USEFULL (in the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger). Architects are uniquely placed as wholistic and lateral thinkers to develop and implement solutions to our physical world. Can’t wait too cook up some new directions with these inspiring colleagues.

Over the next 3 years architects from the renowned studio Atelier Bow Wow will conduct public lectures, design studios and research activities around urban – rural connections and communities.

Huge thank you to Michael Mossman Deborah Barnstone Lee Stickells for including us and the whole team at University of Sydney for organizing a flawless day.
